The Selma Police Department is asking the public for information about the first shooting death of 2025.
David Lewis of Selma was apparently shot in the area of Minter Avenue and Keller Alley on Saturday, Jan. 4, according to a news release from Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr.
The Selma Police Department is asking anyone with any information that would help the investigation to contact the department at (334) 876-1273.
“This unfortunate incident is Selma’s first murder (of the year), and I hope our last,” Perkins said. “I encourage anyone who may have additional information to come forward.”

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
If you do not have heat in your home or lack shelter, you can call
211 or visit 211connectsalabama.org for assistance locating
appropriate shelter from the cold.
To prevent freezing and possible bursting of pipes they should be
wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly.
