Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Selma

Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Selma

Shiloh Baptist Church, established in 1866 in Selma, has stood for generations as a faithful witness to God’s love and truth. With a rich history and a strong presence in the community, Shiloh is a warm, Bible-believing congregation of approximately 100 active members who are prayerfully seeking the next Senior Pastor to lead the church into its next season of ministry.

This is more than a position — it is a calling. Shiloh Baptist Church is seeking a pastor who is called by God to preach and teach the uncompromised Word, shepherd God’s people with compassion, and provide spiritual leadership rooted in Scripture and prayer.

A Call to Spiritual Leadership

The Senior Pastor will serve as the primary spiritual leader of the congregation, guiding the church through preaching, teaching, discipleship, and outreach. Shiloh is seeking a born-again believer with a clear testimony of salvation, who is doctrinally aligned with Baptist teaching and demonstrates spiritual maturity, integrity, humility, and a strong prayer life.

A shepherd’s heart is essential. The ideal candidate will be committed to discipleship, able to communicate effectively across all ages, and passionate about nurturing spiritual growth both within the church and throughout the community.

Desired Experience and Qualifications

While 5–7 years of pastoral experience is preferred, it is not required. The church welcomes candidates who have demonstrated the ability to preach, teach, counsel, and provide pastoral care. Theological training from an accredited Bible college or seminary is also preferred.

Equally important is the ability to collaborate with deacons and ministry leaders, support the church’s vision, and work together to strengthen church operations and ministry development.

Responsibilities of the Senior Pastor

The Senior Pastor will:

  • Preach and teach the uncompromised Word of God

  • Provide pastoral care, counseling, and visitation

  • Lead worship services and participate in Sunday school, Bible study, ordinances, and special programs

  • Guide discipleship efforts and spiritual growth

  • Work closely with deacons and ministry leaders

  • Represent Shiloh Baptist Church in the broader community

  • Lead with humility, compassion, and biblical conviction

Grounded in Scripture

Shiloh Baptist Church looks to the biblical qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7, Titus 1:5–9, and 1 Peter 5:1–4. The pastor must be above reproach, self-controlled, able to teach, gentle, disciplined, upright, and respected both within and outside the church—one who shepherds willingly, humbly, and by example.

Moving Forward in Faith

As Shiloh Baptist Church continues its mission rooted in faith and community, the congregation seeks a pastor who will honor its legacy while prayerfully leading into the future. If you feel called to serve, shepherd, and grow alongside a historic church committed to Christ, Shiloh Baptist Church invites you to prayerfully consider this opportunity.

“And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.” – Jeremiah 3:15
