The Demopolis High School Tigers faced the Northside High School Rams at home for the region championship game Oct. 24, and the Tigers kept the game close. For the first quarter.
The Rams came to Demopolis undefeated, but the Tigers were ahead 14-13 at the end of the first quarter. However, those were all the points Demopolis could muster, and the Rams put up another five touchdowns. The game ended with a score of Demopolis 14, Northside 48.
The Demopolis defense struggled to contain Northside’s long passes. On offense, the Tigers put together several good runs and long passes, but Northside kept them out of the end zone. Two Tiger drives ended with interceptions in the end zone.
Northside will take its undefeated record into the playoffs as the regional district champ. Demopolis will be in the playoffs as well with a 6-3 record, but first they will go to Wetumpka to face Indians on Friday for the last season game.
