In what is going to be a clash of titans, the Lowndes Academy Rebels will be going for their fourth straight AISA State Football Championship on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 3:30 p.m. at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.

The contest will feature two powerhouse football teams, both called “Rebels.”  Undefeated 11-0, 4-0 Class AA Region 1 Lowndes Academy will face 12-0, 5-0 Class AA Region 2 South Choctaw Academy for the AISA Class AA State Football Championship.

To reach the championship game, Lowndes Academy defeated Jackson Academy 47-0 and Patrician Academy 35-18. And South Choctaw defeated Abbeville Christian 72-22 and Wilcox Academy 22-14.

Lowndes Academy won football state championships in 1968, 1997, 2021, 2022 and 2023. South Choctaw won state titles in 1989 and 2007.

On defeating the Patrician Academy Saints Nov. 14 to make to the championship game, Lowndes Academy head football coach Shane Moye said, “It was a total team effort. I am so proud of this team. I am honored to be their coach. God is good and has blessed this school in so many ways. We are so thankful for that.”

Moye said, “Patrician was ... prepared for us.” But he said his team prevailed “because they play for each other... trust each other. They played with so much passion and heart.”

Against Patrician, Braydn Stokes completed eight of 13 passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns while suffering one interception. He also rushed eight times for 45 yards and two touchdowns.
