Sam Innes is set to make his second consecutive appearance as Mizzou’s lone representative at the NCAA Indoor Track Championships.
Sam Innes was Mizzou track and field’s lone athlete who competed at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championship on Friday at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
He notched a sixth-place finish in the weight throw and earned first-team All-American honors with his best throw of the season (74 feet, 5Âľ inches).
This is Innes’ second time being named an All-American; he was announced as a second-team All-American last year, finishing 14th at the championship.
The Tigers will begin the outdoor season next Friday at the George C. Griffin Track & Field Facility in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Tigers fell 4-0 to Alabama and have now been blanked in their last two matchups, with the previous shutout coming at the hands of No. 1 Georgia on Sunday.
Mizzou moves to 0-6 in conference play, but it remains over .500 with an overall record of 9-8 after the loss.
The Tigers will face off against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, who have lost three in a row. They are 1-5 in conference play.
The two squads are set to face off at 11 a.m. Sunday in Starkville, Mississippi.
