Steve Angeli, who was part of Notre Dame's quarterback competition this spring, is entering the transfer portal, several outlets reported Thursday. Angeli was up against CJ Carr and Kenny Minchey in a three-way battle this spring. As the backup to Riley Leonard last year, Angeli got into 11 games and completed 24 of 36 passes for 268 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions. The former four-star prospect out of New Jersey has thrown for 772 yards, 10 touchdowns and one interception while completing 72.5 percent of his passes (58 of 80) for his career. Angeli is set to be a junior this season, while Carr is a redshirt freshman (and the grandson of former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr) and Minchey is a sophomore. The Fighting Irish are coming off a national championship game loss to Ohio State, and Leonard was out of eligibility after his lone season in South Bend. --Field Level Media
