Southside High School opens new multimedia studio

Ribbon cutting was this week.

An innovative multimedia studio officially opened Tuesday at Southside High School, thanks in part to the efforts of a former student.

Andre Williams, who wrote the grant for his alma mater, said, “The goal is to prepare our young adults with the skills for 21st century S.T.E.A.M. jobs and inspire them to be local entrepreneurs or be college ready.”

The new program, two years in the making, includes mentorship, music production, graphic designing, entrepreneurship, videography and more under one roof. The studio will be the centerpiece of the Music Studio Recording and Mass Media department at Southside High School.

Williams is a cofounder of Music Arts Design Development (MADD) Studios, a standalone studio and consulting business to develop custom studios for any interested schools or businesses.
