Entrepreneur Class

Enrollment is now open for a popular training program for entrepreneurs sponsored by the Edmundite Missions Business Institute.

The Fourth Annual Business Training and Development Program will begin on Sept. 29. Online classes will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for nine weeks, offering 16 sessions of hands-on, practical training.

“This exciting online program is designed to equip aspiring and current business owners with the tools needed to succeed in today’s competitive market,” said Robert Lee, director of the Center for Workforce Development and coordinator of The Hilton Culinary Arts Entrepreneurship Program for Edmundite Missions in Selma.

The program, presented by The Hilton Foundation, will cover entrepreneurship, business law and pricing strategies among other topics, according to Lee.

The program has traditionally focused on culinary arts, but this year the program has expanded to include entrepreneurs and individuals in skilled trades like pressure washing services, roofing companies and tree services, Lee said.

“This program offers a unique opportunity for networking, collaboration and growth,” Lee said. “In addition, grants will be available with awards determined by the number of applications received.”

Graduate Summer Sturdivant, owner of Summers Vegan Cinnamon Rolls, said the program was valuable.

“This initiative is not just about teaching business fundamentals,” Sturdivant said. “It’s about building a strong community of entrepreneurs who can support one another, create sustainable businesses and strengthen our local economy.”

Interested individuals are encouraged to register early, as space is limited to 40 participants. Register by clicking here.
