Dallas County sorority wins first place for community service, president named Life Member of the Year

Gamma Alpha Alpha Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. based in Dallas County was awarded first place for outstanding Community Service at the recent leadership conference at Sheraton Downtown Birmingham.

The community service award was given for their Z-HOPE/ Zetas Helping Other People Excel program in their chapter size 5-24 members. The chapter ranks in the top 10 chapters in contributions for the 2024 March for Babies across the state. 

Chapter President Dr. Constance Smith Hendricks was awarded the Life Member of the Year and one of five members to receive the Inaugural recognition as a Dr. Debra Cannon P. Wolfe Pearl of Wisdom award. This new recognition generated in appreciation of Dr. Wolfe's lifetime outstanding leadership, achievements and dedicated service to Zeta, as well as Finer Forward leadership and mentorship for Awesome Alabama and the Sisterhood to five dynamic Alabama Zeta leaders. "When Zeta Calls, they answer one and all."

Dr. SoJuan Crenshaw serves as the 21st Alabama Zeta State Director, where over 300 met for the meeting in Birmingham, including over 50 undergraduate members. Several regional and International officers were in attendance, including Selma native Dr. Denisha Hendricks, International Board Chair, and Alexis Smith, International Graduate Director. Eight members of the chapter attend the annual leadership conference.
