A fire at an abandoned house in Lakeview that spread to Interstate 59 in high winds on March 30 prompted a mutual aid request that brought help from nine first responder agencies.
The fire that started in a single-family home in the 2200 block of Bucksville Road across from Tannehill General was fully involved when Lakeview Fire responded and asked McCalla Fire to assist.
Due to the high winds and severe storms approaching, two secondary fires were ignited. One was an outbuilding approximately 50 feet from the original fire, which also caught a lot of brush and woods on fire.Â
High wind gusts caused burning embers to extend the fire beyond the perimeter and ignite brush and woods on Interstate 59 approximately 1/4 mi east of exit 100.Â
Multiple agencies were on scene which included Mccalla Fire and Rescue, McAdory Fire Department, Eastern Valley Fire Department, Bessemer Fire Department, Brookside Fire Department, Lakeview Fire Department, Alabama Forestry Commission, Vance Fire Protection District and Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office.
