A single-vehicle crash Friday morning has claimed the life of a West Blocton man.
According to reports, Lannie D. Hyde, 40, a pedestrian, was walking on the shoulder of the Interstate 59 southbound and at 11:32 a.m. he was struck by a 2006 Ford Focus driven by Micah Anderson, 28, of Hueytown.
Hyde was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash which occurred near the 99 mile marker, approximately one mile south of McCalla. State Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
