Lowndes County Superintendent Samita Jeter was awarded Outstanding Superintendent of the Year from the Alabama Education Association (AEA) at their 2024 Adminicon Conference in Birmingham over the weekend.

Jeter was named superintendent of Lowndes County Public Schools in October 2023, taking over for Jason Burroughs who retired after 27 years. She was executive director of Head Start in Lowndes County before that. She is a Montgomery native and graduate of Alabama State University.

Montgomery County’s Bridgette Massey-Johnson was named Outstanding Central Office Administrator of the Year at the Adminicon Conference.
