The next meeting of the Selma City Schools Board of Education will have the School of Discovery and "potential" changes to the local elementary schools.Â
A recent announcement on social media by SCS said the meeting will take place on Dec. 1 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Payne Elementary School on 1529 Franklin Street.Â
The Selma City School Board in October voted 3-1 for School of Discovery to serve fifth and sixth graders starting next fall. That would have elementary schools in the district transition to serving grades K through four.
Superintendent Dr. David Scott has reported that the district's shrinking enrollment may mean closure of two elementary schools with low enrollment, Clark and Payne.Â
