Watch: ASHS first class starts

The Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences officially welcomed its first students Thursday, marking a historic milestone as Alabama’s newest residential specialty high school opened its doors.
The tuition-free public school enrolled 79 inaugural students representing 45 communities across Alabama for the first day of classes. The first year is held at University of West Alabama while the new facility is being built in Demopolis.
