William Lumpkin elected District 4 Dallas County Commission

William Lumpkin was elected to serve as District 4 Dallas County Commissioner.

The District 4 Dallas County seat has a new commissioner.

Orrville City Councilman William Lumpkin beat competitor Barry Lorenzo Allen with 65% of the vote to win the seat that was held by Jan Justice, who didn’t run for re-election.

Lumpkin said he ran for county commission to move Dallas County forward and continue work he and his wife have been doing in Orrville, where he is a city councilman and his wife, Louvenia, is mayor. With winning the election, Lumpkin said he will resign his position on the council to take the commission seat.

“We want to move Dallas County forward,” Lumpkin said from the Dallas County Courthouse after poll results were released. “We want to work together with the commission … because we’ve been behind for so long other counties that are moving forward. But now we’ve got someone else there to help Dallas County move forward.

Swearing in ceremony for commissioners will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 13 in commission chambers and will be followed by an organizational meeting.
