Shirley Quarles Baird, a Selma artist and longtime member of the Selma Art Guild, received the Best in Category Award for her watercolor painting, “Wishing Pond” at the Montgomery Art Guild Regions Bank Art Exhibition 2021.
The event was held Sept. 14-Oct. 6. And Baird won in Category 2, transparent painting.
Baird said of her art, "I don't approach the canvas with any idea. I just start painting and it evolves. It's values... colors, contrast all of that until you finally have a painting."
