One person is dead and another injured during a crash that took place in Marengo County on Friday night.Â
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), James W. Evans, 54, was driving a 2023 Ford F-150 pickup that left the road, crossed a private drive and "became airborne" before landing.
Evans was reportedly not using a seatbelt. He was transported to Whitfield Regional Hospital in Demopolis but later died.
A passenger in the vehicle, George E. Fulford, 46, of Trussville, was also injured and transported for treatment.
The accident occurred on U.S. 80 near the 48 mile marker, approximately six miles west of Uniontown.
