$100,000 in scholarships is available from Alabama Community College System (ACCS) and the Alabama Association of Resource Conservation, & Development Councils (RCD) for students who are studying aviation and construction.

“Alabama’s aviation and construction sectors continue to grow, creating strong demand for skilled workers," ACCS Regional Workforce Director Gary Weaver. "Building Futures was designed to close a critical gap by supporting students in industries essential to the state’s economic growth.”

$2,000 scholarships will be offered to 50 students enrolled in an eligible program at an Alabama community college and covers tuition, books, and fees.

To qualify students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and must be Alabama residents, as well as be enrolled in one of the listed short-term certificates, non-credit, or associate degree programs. 

Aviation Mechanics, Avionics, Construction Management, Welders and Pipefitters, HVAC/R Technicians, Carpenters, Electricians, Plumbers are eligible programs. 

"I am pleased RCD can participate once again with ACCS on another meaningful project," said Alabama Association of RCD Councils Chairman and Washington County Probate Judge Nick Williams. "The Veterans Awareness and People Against a Littered State Spring Cleanup were excellent examples of the two organizations working together and I look forward to seeing the 'Building Futures: Enhancing Lives with Scholarships' impact the future workforce opportunities of our students.”
