Rep. Shomari Figures (AL-02) has secured $2.3 million for projects in the second district, including Tuskegee and Crenshaw County.Â
$1,015,000 will be used to build a new public safety building for the Tuskegee police and fire departments.Â
$1,000,000 will go towards developing the Crenshaw County Recreational Complex for the Crenshaw County Commission.Â
"I will always support projects that meet the everyday needs of the people I serve, and continue fighting to bring resources home and strengthen the path forward for all our residents," said Figures in an announcement.Â

MONDAY ALL OF CENTRAL ALABAMA...
* WHAT...Very cold wind chill values as low as 8 degrees north to 15
degrees south are expected.
* WHERE...All of central Alabama.
* WHEN...From 6 PM Sunday to 7 AM CST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of
subfreezing temperatures could cause pipes to burst.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
If you do not have heat in your home or lack shelter, you can call
211 or visit 211connectsalabama.org for assistance locating
appropriate shelter from the cold.
To prevent freezing and possible bursting of pipes they should be
wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly.
