Results from the 2020 U.S. Census suggests that Dallas County residents are under reporting themselves based on numbers reported in 2010.

The results can be seen online at 2020census.gov, which shows that there was a 46.7% self-response rate as opposed to a 56.0% rate taken in 2010, according to a report released to media.

According to the report there has been a drop in overall state self-responses with 50.3% versus 62.5% in 2010.

The report said that Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs Director Kenneth Boswell encourages more action to be taken in the census to “exceed” the numbers reported in 2010.

This is so that the state can keep the current number of federal representatives, as well as provide “more than $13 billion in census-derived funding at stake, and continues to be considered for new and expanding economic development opportunities moving forward.”

The U.S. Census Bureau is still taking responses online at 2020census.gov.
