Will Ainsworth

Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth has granted almost $179 million to 327 K-12 public schools throughout Alabama, with Black Belt schools being among them.

According to Alabama Daily News, the funding comes from the Capital Grant Program created in early 2023. An estimated 80% of the schools benefitting from the grants are those in which more than half of the students are said to be at-risk.

The grants are aimed at assisting with capital projects to "enhance" the education environment of students, as well as to pay for debts on prior projects, help with deferred maintenance on facilities, increase school security and pay for technology and equipment.
