Dallas County jury returns $1 million verdict in lawsuit against Progressive

A Dallas County jury has returned a $1 million verdict in favor of a woman and her two daughters from Mississippi in their lawsuit against Progressive Insurance after a crash in 2021. 

A statement from Beasley Allen, the law firm that represented the family, said that the lawsuit was an underinsured motorist case against Progressive. 

According to the statement there was a traffic accident on U.S. Highway 80  in Selma in which another driver allegedly failed to yield and turned in front of the vehicle that the family was in.

Years later the mother and both daughters were tested and found to have hearing loss, said the statement. The family's claims were reportedly focused solely on their hearing loss and no visible physical injuries such as broken bones or surgeries. 

The jury deliberated for less than an hour and awarded the following:

• $500,000 to the youngest daughter

• $250,000 to the mother

• $250,000 to the older daughter
