A $415 million alcoholic beverage plant by Diageo has been announced for construction in Montgomery.
The facility is 360,000-square-feet and will crate 100 jobs, said an announcement on Thursday.
“As an industry giant with operations that span the globe, Diageo represents an impressive addition to Alabama’s business community,” said Ellen McNair, Secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce. “The company’s decision to establish this production facility in Montgomery signals its confidence in Alabama as a prime location to help accelerate its growth plans.”
The location is set to occupy a CSX Select Site in the city.
“We are proud that Diageo has chosen a CSX Select Site for their new beverage distribution plant,” said Christina Bottomley, CSX Vice President of Business Development and Real Estate. “This partnership highlights the value of rail’s efficiency and sustainability in meeting growing demand, creating jobs, and strengthening the local economy. It also underscores CSX’s dedication to supporting our customers at every stage, from site selection to ongoing service and beyond.”
The company is already looking to hire for positions. See here for more information.
“Diageo’s investment in its new production facility is a significant step forward for Montgomery, Montgomery County, and the state, reinforcing our position as a leader in industrial and logistics growth,” said Mayor Steven L. Reed of the City of Montgomery.
“This new facility will create valuable jobs and further enhance economic opportunities throughout our region. We are proud to work alongside Diageo, the Montgomery Chamber, Montgomery County, and our other partners to ensure the success of this facility and the lasting positive impact it will have on our citizens. This collaboration underscores our shared commitment to building a stronger future for our community.”
