Seven women will share their experiences of growing up in the 1960s during the Civil Rights Movement at an event at the Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail's Montgomery Interpretive Center on Oct. 13.
Titled "Seven Sisters, Still, Sowing Seeds,” the event will feature Rev. Dr. Viola B. Bradford, Ms. Doris Crenshaw, Ms. Meta Graetz Ellis, Dr. Valda Harris Montgomery, Ms. Martha Morgan, Esq., Mrs. Faya Ora Rose Touré, Esq., and Mrs. Sheyann Webb-Christburg.
"The Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail commemorates the people, events and route of the 1965 Voting Rights March in Alabama, which was one of many demonstrations in the civil rights movement," said a description on the center's website.
"During the program, all seven women will share their experiences growing up in the 1960s and 1970s during the civil rights movement and discuss their work as civil rights activists striving to create a more just future."
The event will be held at 11 a.m. in the gallery space of the Montgomery Interpretive Center located on Alabama State University campus at 1521 Harris Way in Montgomery.
