ADPH announces requests for proposals to curb STIs, pregnancies in youths

The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) has announced requests for proposals (RFPs) to curb sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unplanned pregnancies from organizations in several counties, many of them in the Black Belt. 

APDH announced two separate RFPs for Bullock, Choctaw, Clay, Cleburne, Crenshaw, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Mobile, Montgomery, Pickens, Washington, and Wilcox counties. 

RPPs are being accepted from the ADPH's Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Branch for Alabama Sexual Risk Avoidance Education and for Alabama Personal Responsibility Education Program.

• The Alabama Sexual Risk Avoidance Education RFP seeks programs that promote positive youth development, including leading youth in developing and navigating healthy relationships and making decisions that result in reduced teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV. Proposals should focus on middle school youth in grades 6-8. Download the RFP or submit an e-mail request to Jasmine Abner at jasmine.abner@adph.state.al.us. The due date is August 4, 2023.
• The Alabama Personal Responsibility Education Program RFP seeks programs that educate adolescents on both abstinence and contraception for the prevention of unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, among youth aged 10-19 by increasing condom or contraception use for sexually active youth. Proposals should focus on high-risk high school-aged youth. Download the RFP or submit an e-mail request to Valerie Lockett at valerie.lockett@adph.state.al.us. The due date is August 4, 2023.
