The Alabama Historical Commission (AHC) and the Alabama Trust for Historic Preservation (ATHP) have opened nominations for the 2024 Places in Peril program to recognize and preserve historic sites and buildings.

The Morgan-Curtis House in Russell County was one of several other sites that was approved for the program in 2023.

“Places in Peril is an invaluable program to elevate and streamline preservation efforts for sites across our state that are under the threat of demolition or deterioration," said Lisa D. Jones, Executive Director of AHC and State Historic Preservation Officer. "These campaigns have been successful in saving cherished places for future generations."

AHC administers $3,300,000 from the Historic Sites Grant Program with funds that were appropriated by the Alabama Legislature.

Nominations close on Oct. 31. See this link for more information.
