The ALA-TOM RC&D Council will meet tomorrow at 1 p.m. to discuss expenditures for multiple projects mostly in Marion but including one in Selma.Â
The council will meet at the Marion/Perry County Library on 202 Washington Street.Â
See below for part of the agenda concerning the projects:Â
*GEN-20 Blackbelt Mobile Pantries $3,000.00 Selma Area Food Bank - Megan Harrison - Oak Street, Selma, Al 36701 A mobile pantry is a service provide to the community by partnering with our local agencies to bring food to those in need.
*GEN-20 Grain Drill for Perry County $6,451.87 Perry Co. SWCD Lillie B. Sanders -204 Fikes Road, Suite C, Marion, Al Funding will be used to purchase a new drill for area farmer to have access to.
*GEN-21 Marion-Perry Co. Library General Supplies $11,000.00 Marion-Perry Co.-Mary Katherine Avery-Washington Street, Marion, Al 36756 The proceeds from this grant will provide basic funds to help the library continue to serve the people of Marion and Perry County.
*EDU-21 Marion-Perry Co. Library Summer Program $5,440.59 Marion-Perry Co. Mary Katherine Avery-Washington Street Marion, Al 36756 Will provide funding to hire children's specialist to oversee the Summer Reading Program and the Head Start Program, as well as the materials needed to bring these programs to the children.
*EDU-20 Marion - Perry County Library Computers $3,000.00 Marion-Perry Library - Mary Katherine Avery - Washington Street, Marion, Al 36756 The library has not had new computers in more than 8 years, funding was used to purchase new computers.
*GEN-21 East Perry Improvement Association Trail $3,000.00 East Perry Improvement Center-Rev. Eddie Perry- Hwy14 East Marion, Al 36756 Resurfacing the walking trail at the East Perry Park.
*GEN-21 Lighting for Marion Gateway Welcome Sign $5,000.00 Perry Co. Historical and Reservation Society-Kay Beckett-Hwy 5 Gateway Entrance, Marion, Al 36756 Gateway sign erected 2018 with no lighting. Install power meter and lights so the sign can be lit up 24 hours a day.
*EDU-21 The Classroom Technology Project $7,174.00 Marion Military Institute Foundation-Suzanna McKee- Washington Street, Marion, Al 36756. Marion Military Institute used funding to purchase new technology items to improve the classrooms.
*EDU-21 Classroom Technology $5,000.00 Breakthrough Charter School – Darren Ramalho, 1820 Prier Drive, Marion, AL 36756. Funding was used to help purchase clear touch smart boards. Total project value $61,821.00
*EDU-20 Drone Environmental Assessment Project $3,000.00 Perry Co. Commission - Deandre Kimbrough - P.O. Box 478, Marion, Al 36756 Perry County Commission used funding to purchase a new Drone and training cost to learn operations.
*EDU-20 Perry County Emergency Awareness Program $3,152.09 Perry Co. Commission - Deandre Kimbrough -P.O. Box 478, Marion, Al 36756. This project will be a series of school programs targeting k-8 grade students providing them with life-saving skills to help them survive a natural disaster.
*EDU-20 Rise Up Rams $4,300.00 Frances Marion School - Effie Fields - 101 Hubbard Drive, Marion, Al 36756 The purpose of this project is to increase student engagement with technology within the classroom.
