The Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences (ASHS) in Demopolis shared a progress update in a recent newsletter, stating that it is on track to complete the first phase in summer 2027.

Construction on the 10-acre site continues despite "challenging" weather, said the update.

The phase includes a residential hall, academic and administrative buildings, laboratory space, and dining facilities. It has been funded by $71 million from the State of Alabama, Bloomberg Philanthropies, and several Alabama corporations, foundations, and individuals.

The update stated that Altec-Styslinger Foundation, Protective Life Foundation, and the Westervelt Foundation have most recently contributed to funding.

The first cohort of 9th- and 10th-grade students will have classes at the University of West Alabama campus while construction of the permanent campus continues.
