Applications are open for the Jazz Road Tours grant by South Arts to support approximately 50 artists with up to $15,000 in individual funds.
The program organizes three-to-six-site tours at different venues in rural areas and others that are not exposed to jazz music. It provides funding for costs in travel, venue fees, promotion and others.
South Arts partners with Doris Duke Foundation and the Mellon Foundation to grant funds ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 per person. Individuals may use $2,500 of their grants for child care.
“South Arts recognizes that presenters don’t always have the means to properly compensate artists, but through this program, we are working to fix that,” said Susie Surkamer, South Arts President and CEO. “With the help of Jazz Road Tours, artists can spend more time honing their craft on tour, and less time worrying about making ends meet.”
Applications close on Oct. 15. See here for more information.
