Selma Police Department 

Selma police and the State Bureau of Investigation have made an arrest in the shooting death of a man Sunday morning.

According to WAKA, Damon Kanard Hooks Jr., 18, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with capital murder in the death of Terence McGraw, 46, of Selma. 

McGraw was found lying on the side of the road in the 300 block of St. Ann Street in Selma at 4 a.m. Sunday. McGraw is the ninth homicide in Selma in 2026.

Interim Selma Police Chief Michael Perry told WAKA that Hooks has other charges including breaking and entering a vehicle. Hooks is being held in the Perry County Prep Center without bond.
