The Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences (ASHS) Foundation has announced that the upcoming school received thousands in donations from several organizations.

Westervelt Foundation donated $500,000, according to a newsletter sent by ASHS.

“Demopolis holds a special place in Westervelt’s history, and it is an honor to help build something so important here for Alabama’s future,” said Cade Warner, CEO of The Westervelt Company.

“The Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences will not only provide high-quality education for students from across the state, but it will also create a powerful pipeline to meet critical healthcare workforce needs for our state’s rural communities.”

Medical Place invested $100,000 to support recruiting and marketing.

“Medical Place is proud to support Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences because investing in education is one of the most powerful ways to shape the future,” said Keela Seawright, Global Accounts Director for Medical Place.

“By providing students with early exposure to healthcare and STEM pathways, we are creating opportunities for the next generation to develop the skills, knowledge, and passion needed to serve and lead in critical fields.”

The Mike & Gillian Goodrich Foundation and Alabama Power Foundation made investments but a number was not provided.

“The Mike & Gillian Goodrich Foundation is pleased to support the new Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences,” said Executive Director Carol Butler. “We believe the school can provide a trained workforce that can strengthen health care in the underserved, rural areas of our state.”
