An Alabama State University student was killed in a shooting that took place on Monday morning.Â
According to WSFA, the victim has been identified as Kaylin Smith, 19, from Louisiana. The suspect is a juvenile from Snellville, GA, who was taken to a hospital to be treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
It is believed that Smith was killed in a domestic incident.Â
Police reportedly responded to the scene at Zelda Road off campus at approximately 4 a.m. SWAT team members made their way into the residence after gunfire was heard.Â
Two residents were evacuated from the building during the operation.Â
Smith is the second ASU student this year who was killed in a homicide case. Ava Walters was killed on Aug. 23.Â
