The Blackbelt Benefit Group (BBG) was given funding from Sen. Robert Stewart to host free bicycle workshops any first Saturday of the month from June through October.Â
BBG has partnered with Reflections Coffee Shop and Charlie "Tin Man" Lucas to hold the workshops at his studio on Lauderdale street and Water Avenue.
It is part of the 1st Saturday events with Arts Revive, Gallery 905, and the Selma Redevelopment Authority. The next will be on June 6 at 8:30 a.m.Â
"This funding and workshop add to the overall scope of what Blackbelt Benefit Group is trying to do in Selma to improve local bicycle and recreational infrastructure," said Selma City Councilor Clay Carmichael.Â
"They were recently given a resolution from the City Of Selma to build bicycle trails in the greenspaces along Valley Creek in Bloch Park, Valley Creek Park, and Riverside Park, where they currently have close to 5 miles of trails along the creek and the river."
