Several airports in the Black Belt are among others to be awarded grants from the Alabama Department of Transportation, which awarded more than $700,000 for improvements.Â
Eufaula Municipal Airport will receive $1,555,418 from the Federal Aviation Administration and $86,412 from the state to construct taxiways, with the City of Eufaula providing $86,412 in matching local funds.Â
Troy Municipal Airport will receive $1,740,329 from the Federal Aviation Administration and $96,684 from the state for taxiway rehabilitation with the airport providing $96,685 in matching local funds.
Union Springs Airport-Franklin Field in Bullock County is set to receive $844,374 from the Federal Aviation Administration and $46,909 from the state to construct a 4-unit box hangar with the airport providing $46,910 in matching local funds.
William E. Stewart Jackson Municipal Airport in Jackson will receive $90,000 from the Federal Aviation Administration and $5,000 from the state for an airport master plan with the airport to provide $5,000 in matching local funds.
The grants are being made through ALDOT’s Alabama Airport Improvement Funding Program.
