Alabama Power trucks

Alabama Power trucks prepared to repair lines after Hurricane Isaias.

Hurricane Isaias moved through parts of Alabama overnight, causing power outages in areas of the Black Belt.

As of 11 a.m. Saturday, Alabama Power reported 9,078 outages in the Black Belt, down nearly 5,000 from the number reported at 6 a.m.

Statewide, there are about 267,000 customers with outages related to the storm.

Hurricane Isaias made landfall Friday night as a Category 2 hurricane with 105 mph sustained winds.

Alabama Power told the media they had a Storm Team ready to respond and called in 6,400 additional personnel.

“Damage assessment is now underway in areas where conditions are safe,” a company release said on Saturday morning. “These assessments help us identify the hardest-hit areas and prioritize restoration efforts.”

The company said strong winds, flooding, downed trees and other hazards may temporarily limit restoration activities in some locations, but “crews will continue assessing damage and restoring service as soon as it is safe to do so.”

Here is a breakdown of outages by county as of 11 a.m. Saturday. Check the outage map for updates here.
