The Keith High School Lady Bears volleyball team hosted a Black Belt tournament that included schools all over the county, city and surrounding areas.
Teams that participated were Keith High School, Southside High School, Dallas County High School, Selma High School, Ellwood Christian Academy, Robert C. Hatch High School, Francis Marion High School and Greensboro High School.
The tournament began at 9 a.m. with Keith and Ellwood. Keith beat ECA in 3 sets to advance to the next round. Hatch came out on top in 2 sets against Selma High to advance to the next round. Francis Marion took the victory over Southside in 3 deciding sets to advance to the next round. Dallas County defeated Greensboro in 2 sets to advance to the next round.
In the second round, Keith beat Francis Marion in 2 sets to advance to the championship round and Hatch beat Dallas County in 3 sets to face Keith for the championship. Keith was able to win the overall tournament beating Hatcher in 4 sets.
Keith High School Lady Bears head coach Towanna Flennory stated, “We played OK. We have to be better for playoffs, but overall it was a great day of high school volleyball in Selma.”
