A Selma construction company has completed the emergency repair of a blocked sewer line on Cedar Drive.
The blocked sewer line spilled raw sewage in the yards of homes on the left and right side of Cedar Drive, according to a news release from Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr. The blockage was reported on Jan. 6, and the Selma City Council approved an emergency contract to John and Jerry Hicks construction to repair the blocked line on Jan. 14.
In his release, Perkins commended Public Works Director Henry Hicks Sr., the public works department and Jerry and John Woods Construction “for acting fast to provide a heathy and safe environment for our citizens in that area.”
The repair cost $65,300.
