The Butler County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) has been awarded a $25,600 grant that provided deputies with new bulletproof vests.

19 bulletproof vests were purchased with tags, patches, badges and pouches for carrying law enforcement equipment, said an announcement from BCSO on social media.

The announcement added that the purchase was made through grant funding and not from taxpayer revenue.

“Our deputies put themselves in harm’s way to protect the citizens of Butler County, and it is important that we provide them with updated equipment that helps protect them while they do their jobs,” Sheriff David Scruggs said.

“Being able to secure $25,600 in grant funding for these vests means we can make that investment in officer safety without placing the financial burden on our county or our taxpayers.”
