Rural residents Cahaba/UAB Medicine

Tomorrow the Cahaba Medical Care + UAB Family Medicine Residency program will graduate what has been called Alabama's largest class and will be the first to represent all of its training tracks, including Perry and Wilcox counties.

19 students will graduate in a program aimed at serving residents in underserved areas. Three are from Alabama and 14 will stay in the state to practice.

In addition to representing the Frontier Track in Marion and Camden, the program represents the Urban Underserved Track in West End, Birmingham, the Rural Track in Centreville and the Highlands Track in Birmingham.

“People get into medicine for many reasons," said graduate Dr. Haley Warwick. "My reason was to care for people in need, which is what drew me to Cahaba Family Medicine Residency. It is a program that puts doctors into the communities that are underserved and in need the most."

"The program and company itself allow us to build relationships with our patients and community in several ways in the clinic and outside the clinic, while teaching us how to be great family medicine doctors.”

The ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. at Watermark Place on 4500 Katies Way Suite 220 in Bessemer.
