Shinsung NVH USA, a car parts suppliers for Hyundai and Kia, has received a $433,000 grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA), to address infrastructure needs as they locate in Macon County.

The grant will provide sewer services for the supplier in the town of Shorter. A warehouse is being constructed north of Interstate 85 and will reportedly create 35 jobs.

The grant is also the latest that is being combined with a $432,000 Community Development Block Grant or CDBG that was awarded earlier this year.

“Alabama’s economic climate and an eager workforce continue to be strong magnets for attracting automobile manufacturers and suppliers,” said Gov. Kay Ivey. “I commend the town of Shorter and Macon County for their hard work in landing these and other types of industries in their area.”

Shinsung provides parts that help reduce noise and vibration in vehicles.

“The Appalachian Regional Commission has been a valued partner to Macon County and other counties in Alabama’s ARC region,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said. “ADECA joins Gov. Ivey in commending everyone involved in this venture that will help Macon County and the town of Shorter grow and prosper.”
