On Tuesday, Feb. 16 traditional New Orleans meals will be on sale to benefit the Sky Hill Animal Society and Selma's Purrrfect Pals (SPP), a volunteer group for the Selma Alabama Animal Shelter.

The fundraiser will offer a choice of chicken and sausage gumbo or red beans and rice. The cost is $10 per meal and each one comes with Cajun cornbread and Praline bourbon fudge.

"Cat Tuesday Mardi Gras Feast is our biggest fundraiser of the year and it is so important because it will cover the cost of the upcoming kitten season when shelters are inundated with cats and kittens," said SPP founder Shannon Lynch.

"Community support is always welcome and necessary. And we cannot survive without volunteers. We are always in need of loving foster homes for kittens that are too young to be in the shelter. The more foster homes we have the more lives we can save."

Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. from Blue Jean Church on 1209 Selma Ave.

Tickets are limited. To contact SPP, see their Facebook page. The Sky Hill Animal Society's Facebook page can be viewed here.
