The Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF) Division of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) will temporarily close McCarty’s Ferry Boat Ramp on the Coffeeville Reservoir (Tombigbee River) in Choctaw County for renovations beginning Monday, September 30, 2024.
During the closure a new launching slab will be installed in a location free of siltation issues, and the existing launching slab will be lengthened to where it is usable at high water levels. Additionally, the parking lot will be expanded and constructed out of concrete, and the road leading to the landing will be paved after completion of the facility upgrades. The renovations are expected to be completed in approximately three months. A reopening date will be announced when available.
This is a joint project of ADCNR and Choctaw County. Funding for the project was primarily provided through the Wildlife Restoration Program under the federal Pittman-Robertson Act. Additional funding was provided by Choctaw County and Innovate Alabama, a statewide public-private partnership focused on entrepreneurship, technology and innovation with a mission to help businesses grow roots in Alabama.
Anglers and boaters who would like to obtain more information about this and other public boating access areas provided by ADCNR should visit: http://boatramps.dcnr.alabama.gov/ or call the Fisheries Section at (334) 242-3471.
ADCNR promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s natural resources through four divisions: Marine Resources, State Lands, State Parks, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries. Learn more at www.outdooralabama.com.
