The City of Marion is warning its citizens to delay any open burning outdoors due to high levels of heat until temperatures cool down.Â
In a message on social media the City of Marion said that the fire department will not be issuing burn permits until further notice. The delay on burn permits prohibits prescribed burns, camp, and trash fires, though barbecue and grill cooking are still allowed.
"Please note that extremely dry weather conditions and low humidity combine create an atmosphere favorable for wildfires," said the city's message on social media. "This is a safety consideration as well as a fire prevention action."
