Residents are being asked to take a redistricting survey as the City of Selma considers redrawing its voting districts.Â
"As required by law, every ten years, local governments use new census data to redraw their district lines to reflect how local populations have changed," said the city's Facebook page. "This process, called redistricting, is important to ensure that each voting district is about the same size."
The City of Selma noted the population decline that has been taking place for some time in the past decade.Â
"Redistricting is done using U.S. Census data released on September 27, 2021 which shows the City of Selma’s population declined by 2,785 between the 2010-2020 Census."Â
The survey can be accessed at this link or by scanning the QR code in the picture of this post. Â
