Attorney Fred Gray, known for his work during the Civil Rights Movement, will be honored by Legal Services Alabama (LSA) at its annual Justice, Fairness and Hope Awards on May 3.

"This year’s recipient, attorney Fred Gray, was chosen for his career dedicated to dismantling racial segregation through his tireless legal advocacy," said a press release from LSA.

Gray was active during the Civil Rights Movement, arguing multiple cases including William V. Wallace in 1963 to protect the Selma to Montgomery marchers.

Gray will receive the award virtually during the event, which will raise funds for the LSA John Lewis Fellowship Program. He will be presented the award by Michael Collins, who was chief of staff for Lewis.
