Clarke County deputies John Green and Tireeq Jones were honored by the Sheriff's Office for their actions in saving a subject's life during a domestic incident.

An announcement from the office stated that the two were called to a scene where an unnamed subject was entering a vehicle and attempting to start it as they arrived.

They prevented the subject from shutting the door before reportedly attempting to draw a pistol from his waistband. Jones took him by the hand and pushed it down so the gun could not be drawn. Green restrained the subject while Jones took the gun away.

"This was yet another situation where deadly force was authorized but, due to training and fearless deputies, no one sustained injuries," said Sheriff DeWayne Smith.

"Deputies Tireeq Jones and John Green actions' in this situation are examples for law enforcement throughout the country. Clarke County is blessed with brave heroes."
