The Clarke County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of fraudulent arrest warrants demanding money that is being sent through the mail or by phone call.

The warrant demands a court surcharge fee, with one sample on the department's social media listing $225.

"We have been made aware of this, and we are investigating the matter," said a post on social media.

Citizens who receive such a letter or a similar phone call are advised to contact the Clarke County Sheriff's Office at 251-275-4254.
