The Coffee Shoppe on Broad Street in Selma celebrated its 14th anniversary of business before it officially closes.Â
This is, however, not the end for owner Jackie Smith as she is set to merge the Coffee Shoppe with her other location, Reflections.Â
"You know, it's been 14 long years at this location," she said during a livestream of the celebration. "And my family and I built this place from scratch. November the 14th, 2011 we walked in here not knowing anything about business. Can't say we didn't know anything about coffee because we woke up every morning to a cup of coffee percolating on the stove."
"So, we knew about coffee. All of us had a love for coffee and had fallen in love with Starbucks over the years but we knew we could create something much, much, much different, much better. Create something within our community where people can just come by and say hello and get a muffin and a coffee and move on."Â
