A change of command ceremony was held at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery in which Col. Mike Gallucci took charge as the new Wing Commander.Â
An announcement from Maxwell stated that Col. Shamekia Toliver relinquished command after two years at the base.Â
"You brought a dedicated focus to your leadership, putting Airmen first while keeping your eye on the mission," said Lt. Gen. Daniel Tulley, Air University of Toliver. "You leave Maxwell Air Force Base and these Airmen better than you found them."
"Command is a privilege. I don't take that lightly," Toliver said in his farewell remarks. "I'm so incredibly proud of each and every one of you."
Gallucci's experience includes director of force protection policy for the assistant secretary of war for homeland defense and hemispheric affairs in the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Policy at the Pentagon.Â
"I look forward to meeting you and your families and understanding how I can best empower and advocate for you, so together we can achieve mission success," Gallucci said in his remarks at the ceremony.
