Data Center

Hale and Marengo County residents will be able to hear more about the impact of a proposed data center at a free public forum in Gallion on July 30.

The forum will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Wallace Community College, 186 Field of Dreams Dr., Gallion on Thursday, July 30.

The forum is designed to inform residents of both counties about environmental and infrastructure impacts of a data center, according to an announcement posted on Monday.

The forum will feature subject-matter experts on environmental law, land-use planning, water resources policy and technology infrastructure. The forum will be facilitated by Katherine Eddins, a conservation attorney and Gallion resident.

Speakers will be environmental attorney Gerald Pouncey Jr., Georgia Conservancy President Katherine Moore, water quality expert Danny Johnson and infrastructure specialist Jeff Berry. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions.

A forum in Demopolis on the data center in April drew a crowd of about 100 residents in April.
